Annabelle and Maddie – 29er Q&A
Typhoon International
July 12, 2023
We asked Annabelle and Maddie a few questions in the build-up to next week’s Typhoon @uk29erclassassociation National Championships. Annabelle and Maddie are our female pairing, both excited for the tough competition and perfect weather after a long exam period!
Annabelle
What gear will you be donning for the Typhoon 29er Nationals?
I will be wearing my Caliso3 Eco Long John & Top, Chesil Buoyancy Aid, Raceline Boots and my rash vest. I will also be packing my Renvyle Hooded Smock for cooler days and to wear between races and on sunny days, I will also be wearing my Typhoon Visor.
What is your favourite bit of Typhoon kit and why?
My Renvyle Hooded Smock! It is perfect for dinghy sailing as it is very light and dries quickly! You can put the hood on between races to keep you warm.
What are you most looking forward to at this year’s Nationals?
The tough competition and the sunny weather in Weymouth. Different nations are entering, so it will be exciting to race against them and make new friends.
Maddie
What will you be wearing for the Typhoon Nationals?
I will be wearing my Caliso3 Eco Long John and Top, which will be worn over my rash vest which is a great base layer as really breathable and also protects me from the sun.
I will be also wearing my Chesil Buoyancy Aid, as a crew it’s the perfect buoyancy aid as part of its design is a hook cut out.
What is your favourite bit of Typhoon kit and why?
My Caliso3 Eco Long Johns. They’re so comfortable that I often forget I’m wearing them; they’re the perfect thickness to be able to wear all year round whether it’s in the winter, paired with the Caliso3 Eco Top or in summer on its own, I always feel comfortable and can move.
However, this is rivalled by the Typhoon 40L Drybag, which has a wide top which allows me to quickly pile all my kit into as well as a wide padded back for support. It’s never a struggle to fit everything and is perfect for someone, like me, who often has to take the train as part of their travel to training and events.
What are you most looking forward to at this year’s Nationals?
I’m looking forward to the tough competition ahead in the summer after 3 months of revising for exams 🙂
